Job description
Overview

Are you passionate about the arts and interested in facilitating access to them in a unique healthcare setting? Do you believe that art has the potential to transform the experience of children and their families in hospital? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the GOSH Arts team, as an Arts Coordinator in a three-year fixed term post. GOSH Arts’ live arts programme, art collection and temporary displays inspire creativity, create welcoming environments, and offer meaningful and innovative cultural opportunities for communities both in and around the hospital. Our work plays an essential role in enhancing the hospital experience. Engaging with visiting artists and having art developed in collaboration with our community integrated into our buildings helps to create less clinical environments, contributes to reducing stress and anxiety and creates space for reflection and exchange. Working across the Live Arts programme you will support the planning and delivery of high-quality arts participation projects; music, dance and theatre performances; creative projects and temporary exhibitions for wards, outpatients and public areas. You will work closely with resident artists, as well as visiting artists and organisations, supporting them throughout project delivery. The Arts Coordinator will create content for a range of communication formats, as well as play a key role in supporting our monitoring and evaluation strategy and providing administrative support as required.

Responsibilities
  • Support the planning and delivery of a multifaceted programme of arts events and live arts projects, which take place across the Trust, and which respond to the needs of the patients, staff and the strategic aims of the Trust
  • Coordinate the running of day-to-day arts activities in the hospital including the organisation of project materials and resources
  • Provide workshop delivery support to visiting artists and organisations as required
  • Create a range of digital and written content for internal and external publicity and communications relating to the Live Arts programme and the GOSH Arts Collection, including website updates, social media, newsletter submissions, press enquiries etc.
  • Contribute to the development of the GOSH Arts communications strategy to raise the profile of our work internally and in wider the arts in health sector
  • Lead on gathering and collating monitoring data and case studies to measure impact across the Live Arts programme, the GOSH Arts Collection and temporary displays
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the GOSH Arts evaluation strategy
  • Manage GOSH Arts’ resources and materials including maintaining the GOSH Arts store
Diversity, Inclusion and Culture

We are keen to make our workforce as diverse as the communities we serve, and we hope to attract applications from underrepresented groups, including people with Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic heritage, people with a disability, and people from LGBTQ+ communities. By growing an ever more diverse workforce, we’ll have a greater range of perspectives and knowledge, meaning that we can provide the children and young people at our hospital with even better care.

Our hospital is committed to creating an environment that is open and inclusive. Our staff are encouraged to engage with colleagues through the following networks: REACH (Race, Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage) ENABLED (Enhancing Abilities & Leveraging Disabilities Network), PRIDE and Women’s networks; all of which are sponsored by a member of our Executive Management Team.

We want to ensure that all of our people, regardless of their background, are seen and heard. We want to attract applicants that share our commitment to inclusion and that understand diversity is a strength that is embraced and valued.
