Permanent role.
To contribute to achieving excellence in teaching and learning through innovative and excellent practice within an exciting and specialist subject area. You will be expected to create effective and stimulating learning opportunities for all students through high quality teaching, learning and assessment.
You will deliver teaching and learning on all levels, from level 1 through to Level 3 programmes in art and design and offer current and relevant and current industry/practitioner skills.
To work within a dedicated team and very successful school of Art, Design and Fashion to expand and develop specialist art, design skills alongside creative digital skills to meet the needs of employers and the creative sector.
You must be able to teach a range of specialist traditional and digital art & design skills including drawing, painting, life drawing, general 3D, print processes, ceramics, exhibition processes, curation and Adobe Photoshop.

Key Responsibilities
- To contribute fully to the mission and values statement of the College ensuring its effective implementation in all aspects of College life
- To be aware of national developments in subject area and update knowledge and skills on an annual basis
- To plan, prepare and deliver high quality lessons in order to achieve effective management of the learning process
- Plan and use a range of effective and appropriate teaching and learning techniques to engage and motivate students and encourage independence and student autonomy
- Establish a purposeful and motivating learning environment where students feel safe, secure, confident and valued
- To set and mark work in accordance with College and School Assessment policies, to record work carried out and assessment of same
- To track all students’ progress and attendance in accordance with agreed College systems and policies
- To be aware of external/internal assessment procedures and to play and appropriate part in their implementation
- To liaise with Head of School in contributing to the design of programmes and teaching approaches which will enable curriculum areas to achieve high standards and value added
- To liaise with Head of School and curriculum teams in contributing to the administration necessary to support the teaching, learning and assessment within the subject area
- To work with colleagues with relevant expertise to identify and address additional student English and Maths to review own professional development needs and to participate fully in future training and development
- To provide enrichment opportunities that are exciting, motivating and enhance the student experience
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Criteria:- Educated to Level 5 e.g. Degree or equivalent in Art & design
- Excellent computer literacy – ability to use the current IT programs of the College, including creative softwares such as Adobe Photoshop.
- Proven relevant experience of curriculum planning, development & delivery in art & design within the specialist area of art & design
- Knowledge and understanding of art & design provision across 2D, 3D radiational and digital processes.
- Engaged in Continuing Professional Development
- Minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy or willingness to complete
- High level of communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to set high standards for students, colleagues and for themselves
- Experience of assessing students’ needs and planning curriculum for their benefit including Technology Enhanced Learning
- Good understanding of curriculum development to meet the training needs of employers local to the Liverpool City Region.
