Job description
STRAP Security Officer's (STRAPSO) across Defence play a vital role in the safeguarding and protection of STRAP material and environments. STRAP is a regime that regulates access to sensitive intelligence material which requires more protective handling than is afforded by the standard arrangements for government assets. As the post holder you will have access to very sensitive information.
The Field Army STRAPSO is responsible for the implementation of Government, Defence and Army policy for the handling and management of STRAP material in HQ Field Army. The Field Army STRAPSO acts as the focal point for education, advice, administration and liaison for STRAP materials, environment and personnel administration.
The successful candidate will be required to:
Act as a focal point for information and advice on STRAP matters within Field Army
Deliver STRAP inductions, briefings and de-inductions to Field Army Personnel
Provide advice to Field Army personnel on maintaining security of the material and clearance levels
Assess and triage STRAP forms ensuring any nationality or restricted countries are queried
Maintain a record of all individuals in the Field Army who are STRAP inducted and limit access to STRAP environments only to those individuals.
Send and receive STRAP clearances in a timely manner
Liaise with the Corporate STRAPSOs, National Authorities and Army Warning, Advice and Reporting Point (WARP) and STRAP working groups as required
Provide administrative support by triaging, assigning and dealing with queries in the multiuser mailboxes
Person specification
We are looking for a person, ideally with previous experience managing STRAP material or working in a STRAP environment, with excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to work at pace are essential.
Essential Criteria:
Experience with MS Office 365 applications, in particular Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and Sharepoint
A positive and enthusiastic approach with a willingness to learn
To be comfortable working within a team but also can work with minimal supervision
Ability and confidence to build relationships and work up, down and across Chain of Command both internally and externally
Enthusiastic, inquisitive and ability to learn new skills and ways of working
Able to work at pace and priorities workloads to meet deadlines
Desirable Criteria:
Knowledge of MOD Protective Security processes, ideally with direct experience working within the MOD’s Security Policy Framework (SPF)
Security professional or knowledge of MOD STRAP Security processes
Working Knowledge of Cabinet Office Supplement
Good working knowledge of JSP 440
