Job description

The Access Control Clerk will organise and control the Wattisham Flying Station Civilian Pass Office and support the guard force, including MPGS, ensuring high standards of clerical support and customer relations. The role involves managing security vetting procedures, issuing passes, maintaining security records, and liaising with various departments.

Key responsibilities:
  1. Keep records of all vetting and issue passes for personnel and vehicles.
  2. Report to the Station Security Officer and assist in vetting checks in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
  3. Organise and control the Civilian Pass Office as directed by the SSO.
  4. Initiate BPSS and SC vetting procedures, including CTC and Criminal Record Certificates.
  5. Maintain a register of Security Clearances.
  6. Prepare and issue SISYS visitor authentication and security passes for MOD civilians, dependants, contractors, service personnel, and visitors.
  7. Liaise with Contract Managers and departments on security matters.
  8. Operate the SISYS computerised and manual pass systems.
  9. Maintain Master List of appointments requiring BPSS and SC clearance.
  10. Update Caravan Pass Database and Casual Users List for Recreational Facilities.
  11. Manage passes for personnel leaving the station and teach new MPGS soldiers to operate the SISYS system.
  12. Liaise with engineers on system repairs and servicing.
  13. Follow up on lost or outstanding passes.
  14. Order and control stationery and manage related costs.
  15. Perform general administration of the Pass Control Office.
  16. Undertake additional tasks such as reception duties, postal services, health and safety, fire tests, and communication cascade.
  17. Gain experience in crisis management and contractor systems.
