Job description

Some careers shine brighter than others.

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC and fulfill your potential. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support, and rewards that will take you further.

Our Wealth Management teams provide a range of services to HSBC customers, supporting key life events, such as saving for university fees, buying a new home, or retirement; whilst protecting their family and interests for every eventuality, providing confidence and reassurance.

We support every aspect of a customer’s financial life, helping them to grow, manage, and preserve their wealth and provide a professional service in a world of increasing complexity. This includes a greater range of financial products and solutions, and a better understanding of our customers’ affairs. For us, Wealth Management is genuinely a relationship-based service.

For our customers, this means a tailored approach, personalized attention, and our teams working collaboratively to support their entire life journey.

The main purpose of the role of Area Wealth Manager is to implement the Wealth strategy and achieve the business objectives. To lead and build the HSBC customer-first culture by providing coaching, mentorship, technical expertise, and regulatory supervision to a team of Wealth Managers and Analysts.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Being accountable for the team’s compliance, sales quality, and Professional Standards, acting as the first line of defense to deliver principled business standards in line with all regulatory requirements.
  2. Influencing Partners to maximize Wealth opportunities, with customers being serviced by appropriate advisors in line with the Bank’s strategy.
  3. Managing performance, providing timely, specific corrective feedback to improve poor performance and motivational feedback to recognize good performance; assessing the strengths and development needs of others, planning development activities, and gaining dedication to change.
  4. Delivering needs-based solutions, seeing opportunities, and supporting the team in delivering holistic financial planning tailored to clients’ needs.
  5. Managing collaborators – developing and maintaining effective relationships with both team members and stakeholders outside of the team.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  1. You must be QCF Level 4 qualified with an appropriate qualification that allows advice giving (FCA Activity 4).
  2. Candidates must currently hold Competent Adviser Status (CAS) under onshore UK FCA jurisdiction at the point of entering the role. If you are a Competent Supervisor, you must have previously held CAS within the last 5 years and maintained an unbroken record of assessment and CPD.
  3. Demonstrate external market awareness to stay updated with market changes, ensuring effective conversations with team and clients.
  4. Understand conduct risks and HSBC business standards to attain and maintain Professional Standards.
  5. Have expert knowledge in holistic financial planning and wealth products.
  6. Encourage others to value the customer and deliver high-quality service.
  7. Understand the Wealth & Premier proposition in terms of servicing and products, ensuring principles are applied consistently when delivering solutions.

At HSBC, we’re dedicated to creating diverse and inclusive workplaces—no matter gender, ethnicity, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or age. We are committed to removing barriers and ensuring careers at HSBC are inclusive and accessible for everyone. We take pride in being a Disability Confident Leader and will offer an interview to candidates with disabilities, long-term conditions, or neurodivergence who meet the minimum criteria for the role.
