Job description
Area vet to work across four sites (Waltham Abbey Cheshunt Mansfield Cottage & Enfield 24).

Its a four-day week working 36 hours with no weekends on-call bank holidays or ERS.

We’re looking for a confident and experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly teams across four well-established Medivet branches: Waltham Abbey Cheshunt Mansfield Cottage & Enfield 24 Hospital.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a vet with a minimum of 3 years experience who enjoys variety in their week and wants to work across different clinical settings each with its own unique team and caseload.

The Area has strong Branch Partners and Lead Vets who you would be working with and well-bonded teams of passionate people supporting you. The region as a whole is known for excellent collaboration among its vet and nurse community. Our vets have a wealth of experience and a range of clinical interests and expertise making the clinics excellent learning environments.

Our 24-Hour Hospital has an outstanding team of vets. All vets in the region are assigned a Buddy who remains a source of support should you need it throughout your time with us.

You’ll be supported by experienced colleagues and nursing teams at each location with access to excellent clinical facilities including digital x-ray ultrasound in‑house labs and more. The Area has vets with interests in internal medicine, ECC surgery, orthopaedic surgery, anaesthesia and analgesia, diagnostic imaging and dentistry. We have two VVS stations.

The Role

4‑day working week (36 hours)

No weekends, no OOH, no bank holidays and no ERS.

Role Accountabilities

In this role you will:
  • Deliver exceptional clinical care to your patients during consultations and procedures.
  • Provide exceptional care to your clients giving clear updates on patients.
  • Deliver professional excellence, observing the highest standards of regulatory practice and operational compliance.
  • Prepare accurate estimates for clients ensuring payment and minimising debt.
  • Work closely with the Practice Manager to maximise commercial performance with a focus on key measures.
  • Engage mentor and develop your team, enhancing their skills and utilising these in the most effective way.
  • Inspire your team, sharing new or evolving practice standards and changes to processes.
  • Complete clinical handover and arrange transfer of any patient needing out of hours or enhanced care.
  • Pro‑actively support and share clinical best practice within and across practices and the wider Medivet community.
Your Skills and Experience
  • RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon.
  • Able to demonstrate clinical leadership skills.
  • Experienced in delivering exceptional care to both patients and clients.
  • An understanding and appreciation of exceptional care and how this improves the client experience.
  • Experience of implementing a progressive clinical culture.
  • Experience of delivering strong commercial performance through effective allocation of clinical activity.
  • Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.
  • Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
