Job summary

BardWood Support Services in Grimsby is seeking Area Support Officers to help ensure the safety and welcoming environment for staff and visitors at multiple sites. The role is site-based with full flexibility to meet client requirements, and carries a pay rate of £12.71 per hour.

Responsibilities include relief cover across locations, maintaining safe environments, providing first aid when needed, assisting with incident reporting, and enforcing site rules.

Qualifications

• SIA license required for the role.
• 5‑year checkable work history is essential.
• Full driving licence and own transport required.
• Previous customer-facing experience is important.
• Candidate must be physically fit and able to work under pressure.
• Flexible attitude and adaptability to client needs.
• Knowledge of security and operational systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide relief cover and support to multiple locations within a region.
• Deliver high-quality service following site guidance and instructions.
• Maintain a safe environment for staff and customers.
• Offer proactive, customer-facing presence and initial reception assistance.
• Resolve conflicts on client premises with the team.
• Enforce site rules and guide the public accordingly.
• Use initiative and involve others if a situation becomes threatening.
• Present a smart, alert security presence on site.
• Administer first aid if needed (training provided).
• Complete legible incident reports when incidents arise.
• Ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for everyone.

About the role

Title – Area support officers

Pay Rate – £12.71

Location – Grimsby Crown House

Shift Timings – Must be fully flexible as per clients requirements

You will be working in a site-based role within the public sector, where officers are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of both staff and visitors.

Your main responsibilities may include:

• Trained to provide relief cover and support to a portfolio of locations within a geographical region.
• All the tasks and activities as per the site operational guidance and Assignment Instructions. Provide quality service delivery.
• Manage and maintain a safe environment for the client’s staff and customers.
• Provide a proactive presence in all public facing areas as activity requires. This will include providing a positive initial reception for clients and directional guidance.
• Working directly with the customer as part of a team to provide conflict resolution at our client’s premises where there is potential for conflict.
• Working closely with your fellow colleagues to ensure members of the public comply with site rules and guidance.
• Use common sense and initiative immediately involving others if a situation becomes threatening.
• To have a smart appearance, always be alert and visible whilst commanding a security presence within the customer premises
• Be able to administer First Aid assistance if a member of public or client’s staff was to be suddenly taken unwell (training will be provided)
• Complete legible incident report writing if and when an incident arises.
• Work to maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for everyone.

To succeed in this role, you will need the following:

• SIA License.
• 5-year checkable work/career history.
• Full driving licence and access to own transport is essential.
• Prior experience of working in a customer-facing environment and dealing directly with staff/customers.
• Physically fit to undertake given tasks.
• Possess the ability to work under pressure.
• Flexible attitude and the ability to adapt.
• Security and operational system competence
