Job summary

BardWood Support Services seeks a site-based Area Support Officer in Oxford to safeguard staff and visitors. You will provide relief cover across locations, ensure safety, and deliver quality service in a public-facing setting.

The role requires a current SIA license, a 5-year work history, and a valid driving license with own transport. You must be physically fit, resilient under pressure, and flexible. Training for first aid will be provided.

Qualifications

• SIA license is required.
• 5-year checkable work/career history required.
• Full driving license and own transport essential.
• Prior customer-facing experience ideal.
• Physically fit to undertake tasks.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt.
• Knowledge of security/operational systems a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide relief cover and support to multiple locations within a region.
• Follow site operational guidance and assignment instructions to deliver quality service.
• Maintain a safe environment for staff and customers.
• Offer a proactive public-facing presence and assist with directions.
• Collaborate with colleagues to manage conflicts at client premises.
• Ensure compliance with site rules and guidance by the public.
• Demonstrate professional appearance and a visible security presence.
• Administer First Aid if needed (training provided).
• Complete legible incident reports when incidents arise.
• Maintain a welcoming, safe environment for all.

About the role:

Title – Area support officers

Pay Rate – £12.71

Location – Oxford

Shift Timings – Day Shift - Must be fully flexible as per clients requirements

You will be working in a site-based role within the public sector, where officers are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of both staff and visitors.

Your main responsibilities may include:

• Trained to provide relief cover and support to a portfolio of locations within a geographical region.
• All the tasks and activities as per the site operational guidance and Assignment Instructions. Provide quality service delivery.
• Manage and maintain a safe environment for the client’s staff and customers.
• Provide a proactive presence in all public facing areas as activity requires. This will include providing a positive initial reception for clients and directional guidance.
• Working directly with the customer as part of a team to provide conflict resolution at our client’s premises where there is potential for conflict.
• Working closely with your fellow colleagues to ensure members of the public comply with site rules and guidance.
• Use common sense and initiative immediately involving others if a situation becomes threatening.
• To have a smart appearance, always be alert and visible whilst commanding a security presence within the customer premises
• Be able to administer First Aid assistance if a member of public or client’s staff was to be suddenly taken unwell (training will be provided)
• Complete legible incident report writing if and when an incident arises.
• Work to maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for everyone.

To succeed in this role, you will need the following:

• SIA License.
• 5-year checkable work/career history.
• Full driving license and access to own transport is essential.
• Prior experience of working in a customer-facing environment and dealing directly with staff/customers.
• Physically fit to undertake given tasks.
• Possess the ability to work under pressure.
• Flexible attitude and the ability to adapt.
• Security and operational system competence
