A growing engineering firm is seeking a Service Engineer to maintain and repair automatic hand wash dryers across Devon and Cornwall. The successful candidate will have strong maintenance experience with electromechanical systems and possess the necessary qualifications. Position: Service Engineer
We are recruiting for a Service Engineer to join a team, based primarily in the Devon/Cornwall area, although the role may require travel to other parts of South West region.
Role Overview:
As a Service Engineer, your day-to-day responsibilities will involve servicing and maintaining a range of automatic hand wash dryers and associated sanitary ware. You will work under service contracts, respond to warranty works, and assist with site-based commissioning projects when required.
Ideal Candidate:
This role is suited to someone with experience in similar engineering roles, particularly those familiar with loan or remote working. The successful candidate will need:
Proven maintenance experience with electromechanical systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A keen eye for detail and thoroughness in all tasks
Flexibility and adaptability to a varied working day
Good organizational skills to manage your own weekly calendar
Required Skills:
Electrical, mechanical, and plumbing experience
Minimum qualifications: IET Wiring Regulation, BS 7671, 18th Edition
Responsibilities:
Maintain, repair, and replace products as necessary
Site-based commissioning work
Respond to planned maintenance under service contracts
Attend breakdowns and take timely action
Non-contract work as required
Manage your working calendar and schedule
Provide detailed reports after work completion
Occasionally cover other zones in the UK outside of Devon & Cornwall
Maintain tools and equipment, and ensure stock of spare parts in the works van
Care for and maintain the company vehicle, ensuring service intervals are met
Perform weekly vehicle inspections as per the maintenance schedule
Assist with other work or assembly production as required
Overnight stays as necessary

Training:
Comprehensive technical, quality, and health and safety training will be provided as part of the induction process. Additional external training will be offered depending on the successful candidate’s skills and needs.
Location:
Primary areas: Devon & Cornwall zones
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary: circa £31,000 per year
Christmas bonus based on company and personal performance
Overtime paid weekly at 1.5x the hourly rate
Overnight allowance: £30 per night (when staying away)
Site Supervisor Subsidy: £50 per week (if supervising another staff member on-site)
Company van and fuel provided (available for private use)
Company workwear and PPE provided
Working Hours:
39 hours per week
Monday to Thursday: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Friday: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
Holiday:
24 days’ paid holiday (pro-rated), plus statutory bank holidays.
Three days must be kept for the Christmas/New Year period.
