Job description

Oxford City Council has a great opportunity for an experienced surveyor to work within its Property Services team as an Area Property Officer.

Role Overview

This varied, fast-paced role covers all aspects of the social housing functions within our busy Property Services team, maintaining the City Council's social housing stock and associated areas.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Taking the lead on repairs, compliance, planned maintenance, and capital works within a defined geographical area.
  2. Owning property-related issues and queries, ensuring effective estate ownership.
  3. Building relationships with tenants and properties to ensure safe, secure, and well-maintained living environments.
  4. Working with internal teams to address tenants’ complaints and concerns, prioritizing effective communication.
  5. Fulfilling client-side roles by commissioning works and monitoring contractor outputs, including Oxford Direct Services.
  6. Managing workstreams, commissioning contractors, and ensuring quality and timeliness.
  7. Collaborating with other Area Property Officers to ensure consistent approaches.
  8. Maintaining records, reporting progress to the HRA Manager, and contributing to future work planning.
  9. Building strong relationships with stakeholders and demonstrating enthusiasm and a proactive attitude.
  10. Applying knowledge of current property legislation, including issues like damp and mould, section 20 process, compliance, disrepair, and decent homes.
Qualifications and Skills

Experience in managing workstreams and commissioning contractors is essential. The role requires a proactive, energetic individual with excellent communication skills and a solid understanding of property legislation.
