Purpose:

As Area Operations Managers, you will be responsible for the management and performance of 19 pharmacies. You will build capable & competent teams to deliver the best community pharmacy experience, focusing on delivering KPIs and budgets, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining quality and standards across all pharmacies.

Scope:

This role reports directly to the Senior/Regional Operations Manager and will be responsible for:

Operational

  • Visiting each pharmacy every two weeks (minimum), leaving SMART actions to drive business performance.
  • Supporting our 'Delivering Well' strategy through alignment of pharmacy activities to corporate strategy.
  • Driving the delivery of Rx growth, services, and OTC sales in line with budgets.
  • Ensuring excellent standards by complying with all processes & procedures.
  • Monitoring competitor activity to identify opportunities to grow market share.

Patient Safety, Quality and Standards

  • Ensuring all pharmacies meet GPhC standards & NHS contract requirements.
  • Completing first-line investigations into PSIs & CD discrepancies when required.
  • Ensuring delivery of all NHS quality standards.

Delivering Outstanding Care

  • Promoting and delivering NHS and private services.
  • Reporting, resolving, or escalating complaints & incidents appropriately.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with the local healthcare community.
  • Offering tailored advice & products for prevention, treatment, and wellbeing to patients & customers.

High Performance Team

  • Recruiting and building trained, motivated, and capable teams.
  • Managing performance through coaching & feedback, including formal reviews.
  • Developing internal & external talent, creating a talent pipeline.
  • Communicating roles & priorities clearly and regularly.
  • Fostering ongoing learning and skill development for all team members.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience in field/multi-site management, either in BAU, cross-regional, or project capacity.
  • Understanding of the pharmacy market & profession (desirable).
  • Strong commercial & analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Effective coaching & feedback skills.
  • Strong planning & organizing abilities.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional networks with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of NHS contract requirements and GPhC/PSNI standards.
