About The Role
Working Hours:35 Hours Per Week(Monday - Friday - usual office hours with some evening and Saturday work occasionally required to attend events)
Contract Type: 1 x Full-Time, Permanent and 1 x Full-Time, Temporary 18 Month
Location: Permanent - Longsight Library and Learning Centre M12 4NE
Additional Payments: Casual Car Allowance

Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.
Manchester's libraries are absolutely brilliant, and that’s largely because of the dedication, passion and commitment of our amazing library staff. With a 94% satisfaction rating in our recent Public Libraries User Survey, we know that our customers cherish our 22 libraries for the learning, cultural, social and fun activities that we offer.
We have two exciting opportunities for experienced and forward looking senior library managers to join us as an Area Manager. We have two posts; a permanent post to manage 5 libraries in our Central Area – Longsight, Arcadia, Hulme, Moss Side Powerhouse and Gorton; and an 18 month time limited post to work across North and South Areas for part of the week and to also take the lead on extending community engagement and volunteering across the city for our neighbourhood libraries. For both posts, you will work closely with our other Area Managers and Citywide Services Manager within our Place Team to ensure that our neighbourhood and community libraries continue to provide excellent services for library customers across Manchester.
About the Candidate
The right candidate will have a good understanding of the way that Manchester libraries operate - our ethos, culture and our high expectations of customer service. You will have experience of delivering and managing library services to residents, and be an effective and positive manager with strong interpersonal and customer care skills. You will also have the provenability to work both independently and in a team, and be experienced at forging strong partnerships with colleagues in other service areas.
