Job summary

Ocado Logistics is seeking an Area Manager for the Bicester Customer Fulfilment Centre to lead and motivate an operational team, uphold safety standards, and drive KPI performance in a dynamic 24/7 setting.

The role requires strong management experience in warehousing, excellent data literacy, and the ability to manage disciplinary matters while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across sites.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Train to use Mechanical Handling Equipment.
• Work in environments from 30°C to -30°C.
• Support other sites when required.
• Work shifts, including weekends, in a 24/7 operation.

Job description

We wouldn't be able to positively impact the way the world shops without our passionate team members. Both behind the scenes within the warehouses and across the Front End of the customer experience, we now have an opportunity for an Area Manager to join the team. As an Area Manager at the Bicester Customer Fulfilment Centre, you will be crucial in leading, motivating, and supporting your operational team to maintain exceptional health and safety standards, drive people engagement, and ensure the delivery of key performance indicators (KPIs) in a dynamic, 24/7 environment. This role exists to foster a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement, and outstanding employee experience within your business unit. This position involves a 4-on, 4-off pattern of 12-hour shifts, with both day and night roles available. (Note: Exact shift patterns and start times will be confirmed during the recruitment process.) You will also be expected to

The ideal Area Manager candidate must possess the following non-negotiables:

• Previous management experience in a warehouse or logistics environment.
• Experience and knowledge of best practice Health & Safety ways of working.
• Strong verbal and written communication and numeracy skills, used to working with and interpreting large volumes of data.
• Strong performance management knowledge and practical experience of conducting disciplinary & grievance investigations.
• Working knowledge of computerised warehouse management systems and core operating reporting tools.

Desirable (in addition to minimum):

• Food Safety compliance knowledge.
• Experience of working in a 24/7 productivity-conscious operation.
• Mechanical Handling Equipment - Current qualifications/previous experience.
• Previous experience in a continuous improvement environment & demonstrable problem-solving skills.
• IOSH accreditation.
