Overview

SSP Health are looking for an Area Manager for our three North Humberside and Scarborough Practices. The candidate will provide leadership and management skills to enable the practices to meet their agreed aims and objectives within a profitable, efficient, safe and effective working environment.

  • To ensure SSP Health practices are fully compliant, increasing efficiencies and maximising income streams to ensure practice remains sustainable.
  • To ensure that staff are fully trained, proficient in their roles and delivering to their objectives.
  • To ensure that there are full monitoring systems in place, ensure support and monitoring schedules in place for each practice, creating long-term sustainable viable practices.

Job responsibilities
  • To ensure SSP Health practices are fully compliant, increasing efficiencies and maximising income streams to ensure practice remains sustainable.

  • To ensure that there are full monitoring systems in place, ensure support and monitoring schedules in place for each practice, creating long term sustainable viable practices.

  • AMs to provide support and guidance to each Manager within their remit.
  • AM to be first point of contact to the Manager where an RM is not in place.
  • Communication
  • AM to liaise directly with Senior Management and COO to increase efficiencies.
  • AM to monitor and review the practices to increase efficiencies, ensure full compliance and income is maximised, staff are trained, staff morale is high and practices remain sustainable long term.
  • Remote access
  • AMs should have remote access to every practice within their remit to monitor and access systems in emergencies.
  • Keep abreast of all new and upcoming services and engage in their implementation across all sites.

  • AMs to complete reports for each practice within their remit and ensure compliant Data Validation

  • Set up an electronic folder for each practice within your remit to retain evidence for validation of data submitted against actual achievement
  • Check data entry against trigger levels and provide solutions to any risk before it becomes an issue; where you have direct responsibility for a PM you will be required to provide this support
  • Discuss discrepancies and agree course of action
  • Ensure that the Manager has a folder for each of the indicators below with evidence (DES, ES, CQRS Monitoring)
  • Ensure practices within your cluster receive support to achieve higher targets and optimal ES delivery
  • Ensure the Manager provides advice and guidance and escalates any issues preventing the practice from maximising enhanced service uptake
  • Prevalence Register validation
  • Ensure register validation has been undertaken and advice given for read code issues; assess training needs of coders and implement an action plan

  • Ensure attendance has been achieved from each of your practices for the mandatory meeting for the Managers and clinicians and all peer support information has been submitted by the deadline

  • Ensure an appraisal schedule is in place for each Manager within your remit and for all staff; check completion dates

The post holder will keep abreast of current affairs and identify potential threats and opportunities; monitor and evaluate performance of the practice team against objectives, identify and manage change; develop and maintain effective communication both within the practice and with relevant outside agencies including the practice website and NHS Choices; ensure effective management of Patient Services and Patient Information IT and Premises Management, H and S, Infrastructure KPI ES, Performance Management, Contract Management.

Financial management Work with the practice to maximise income through Enhanced Services, PPA, Prevalence, QOF KPI targets. Ensure the practices use the appropriate systems for handling and recording of cash and cheques and petty cash.

Human resources

Work with the Head of HR to oversee the recruitment and retention of staff and provide a general personnel management service; ensure that all members of staff are legally and gainfully employed; evaluate, organise and oversee staff induction and training; ensure that all staff are adequately trained to fulfil their role; develop and implement effective staff appraisal and monitoring systems; support and mentor staff both as individuals and as team members; implement effective systems for the resolution of disputes and grievances.

Organisational Convene meetings, prepare agendas and ensure distribution of minutes as necessary; ensure SSP Practice protocols and procedures are implemented, reviewed and updated as required; ensure that Practice premises are properly maintained and cleaned and that adequate fire prevention and security systems are in place; ensure that the practice has adequate disaster recovery procedures in place; ensure appropriate maintenance for practice equipment.

Patient services Ensure service development and delivery is in accordance with local and national guidelines; ensure that the practice complies with NHS contractual obligations in relation to patient care; maintain registration policies and monitor patient turnover and capitation; ensure guidance implemented for repeat prescribing systems; ensure an effective appointments system in line with Head Office; ensure practices have an effective complaints management system.

Information management and technology Keep abreast of the latest developments in primary care IT and regularly update the practice management team; motivate, support and monitor staff in the use of IT; organise, oversee and evaluate IT training; oversee targets and monitoring standards for data entry and data collection.
