Overview

Area Manager — Permanent, 35 hours per week. Salary: £36,429.86 per year plus car allowance of £5,000 per annum. Location: London.

We are looking for an experienced Area Manager to lead and support dedicated shop teams in London. In this role you will inspire, guide, and empower shop teams to perform at their best, driving commercial success while building teams who are passionate ambassadors for Scope in their local communities. The role supports 13 Scope shops in London, including Acton, Basildon, Bexleyheath, Camberwell, Camden, Clapham Junction, Dartford, Fulham, Fulham (duplicate in original), Ruislip, Surbiton, Tolworth, Walthamstow, Woolwich. Overnight stays and travel are expected. Some home working is involved.

The role is ideal for someone with prior Area Manager experience, especially in fashion or the charity sector. We also welcome candidates from a retail leadership background with transferable skills, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities
  • Maximise sales and manage expenditure to achieve profit targets.
  • Oversee shop teams composed of paid colleagues and volunteers to drive performance.
  • Support and deliver key activities from the Retail Strategy and Business Plan.
  • Identify and develop the potential of colleagues across the Area.
  • Build effective working relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Positively promote Scope with the public in the local community.
About you
  • Passionate about retail.
  • Love of sustainable fashion with extensive, multi-site experience managing a large team.
  • Commercial, resilient, with a can-do attitude, and a great coach and inspirational leader.
  • Dedicated team player with a strong work ethic, great attention to detail and solid reporting skills.
Shop environment and hours

Scope Charity Shops are open every day; some weekend and Bank Holiday cover is needed. Full-time hours are 35 per week, five days out of seven. Part-time vacancies follow a seven-day rota.
