We're looking for an experienced and proactive Area Contractor Manager to lead and manage our key delivery contractor accounts within the final mile network. Acting as the lead negotiator, you'll oversee contractor onboarding, performance management, and compliance while developing strong partnerships to drive down risk and loss. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that our delivery network runs efficiently, securely, and in line with our service and cost expectations.   • Be the lead negotiator for key contractor accounts, ensuring commercial terms align with cost, service, and quality targets.
  • Lead the full onboarding and vetting process for all new suppliers and contractors.
  • Review performance and compliance data, using it to drive improvements across the contractor network.
  • Deliver contractor training, both at onboarding and ongoing, to ensure compliance and performance standards are met.
  • Own day-to-day performance tracking and contract deliverables, ensuring all SLAs are met.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and lead initiatives to improve Cost Per Unit.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports, analyse performance trends, and implement improvement plans.
  • Act as the lead investigator for complex cases involving fraud, losses, or modern slavery concerns.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to review ParcelShop and SME data, creating targeted loss-reduction plans.
  • Lead regular meetings with contractors and internal stakeholders to proactively manage performance.

We are looking for:

  • A full UK Driving Licence is essential.
  • Experience managing contractors or external suppliers in a logistics or final mile environment.
  • Skilled in performance reporting, compliance auditing, and delivering transformation/change programmes.
  • Knowledge of planning or optimisation tools.
  • Ability to influence strategic direction and support business-wide initiatives.
  • Excellent MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook proficiency.
  • Skilled at delivering training and onboarding support to external partners.
  • Strong stakeholder management and leadership abilities.
