Job summary

Trafford Local Studies & Archives is seeking an Archivist to lead on cataloguing, organisation and digitisation of Trafford's archives, ensuring professional standards and accessibility for future generations.

Reporting to the Local Studies and Archives Manager, you will guide volunteers and colleagues, supporting projects and developing skills across the team. The role combines archival expertise with strong organisation and communication.

Qualifications

• Strong archival knowledge and understanding of archival practices.
• Excellent organisational, communication and project management skills.
• Experience guiding or training volunteers or colleagues is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead cataloguing, organisation and digitisation of Trafford's archives.
• Create detailed catalogue descriptions and finding aids; support public access.
• Identify material suitable for digitisation projects and contribute to governance.
