Job description

Amey is looking for a motivated and experienced Archivists to work on a range of exciting consulting projects in Scotland and further afield. We have design hubs in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Motherwell, Perth, and Aberdeen together with additional office space in Dumfries, Ayr, Dundee, Nairn and Huntly.

Amey deliver a range of local, national and international infrastructure projects for clients including Transport Scotland, Network Rail, National Highways, Local Authorities and Contractors. We have secured multiple long-term contracts and continue to grow and expand into new regions and markets.

Key responsibilities:

Role Overview

We are seeking a organised and proactive Archivist to join our Infrastructure team in Scotland. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity, accessibility, and preservation of technical records, project documentation, and historical data across our infrastructure portfolio.

You will work closely with engineers, project managers, and digital teams to manage archives related to bridges, roads, environmental assessments, and community infrastructure projects. The role supports both operational delivery and strategic planning by maintaining accurate and accessible records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain structured archives for infrastructure projects, including drawings, reports, assessments, and correspondence.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external data governance standards.
  • Support project teams by retrieving and organising historical data for ongoing and future works.
  • Collaborate with digital transformation teams to migrate legacy records into modern platforms.
  • Provide training and guidance to teams on document handling and archiving protocols.
  • Contribute to community benefit reporting and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or professional qualification in Archival Studies, Information Management, or a related field.
  • Experience working within infrastructure, engineering, or public sector environments would be desirable.
  • Strong understanding of digital archiving systems and metadata standards.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Scottish infrastructure projects or Transport Scotland frameworks is a plus.
