Oxford Royale is a leading global provider of elite summer schools. Driven by a firm belief that education is about much more than a formal classroom, we offer young people unparalleled cultural and learning experiences, giving them a window to a world of opportunity.

Oxford Royale’s Architecture and Design Summer School is designed to introduce students to the foundational principles of architecture, urban planning, and design. We are seeking an experienced and creative teacher who can inspire students to explore architectural theory, design principles, and practical project work. The ideal candidate will guide students through the entire creative process, from conceptual design to the practicalities of architecture, ensuring that students apply their knowledge through hands-on tasks and critical discussions of contemporary architectural challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and adapt lessons using the Teacher’s Guide, ensuring the content is tailored to students' academic levels and interests.
  • Deliver interactive and inspiring lessons on architectural history, design theory, and modern construction techniques.
  • Use subject expertise to promote student progress, providing personalised feedback and adapting lessons to suit individual learning needs.
  • Lead project-based activities, workshops, and site visits to bring architectural concepts to life.
  • Mark assignments, provide detailed feedback, and complete student reports reflecting individual progress.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including maintaining registers and attending staff meetings.
  • Collaborate with fellow teaching staff to create a stimulating and supportive learning environment.

Person Specification:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in architecture or a related field, with an awareness of current architectural trends and design challenges.
  • Passion for inspiring students and fostering their interest in architecture, design, and urban planning.
  • Ability to communicate complex architectural concepts clearly and adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles.
  • Creative and confident teaching approach, encouraging critical thinking and hands-on problem-solving.
  • Fluency in English and strong organisational skills.

Position Details:

  • Programmes are two weeks in length, with options for 2, or 4-week contracts available in July 2025.
  • Teaching takes place Monday to Friday, with lessons scheduled from 09:00 to 16:00, although shorter hours may be available in some locations.
  • Compulsory online and in-person training will be required before starting the role.
  • While key teaching materials are provided, teachers are expected to adapt lesson plans to suit student interests and contribute their own expertise to the course.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree (or higher) in Architecture, Design, or a closely related field.

Desirable Qualifications / Experience:

  • Experience teaching architecture or related subjects to students aged 16-18.
  • PGCE or Master’s degree in Architecture or a related field.
  • Professional experience in architecture, urban design, or construction industries.
