As part of our expansion plans, we are seeking an experienced Architectural designer to join our team at our national manufacturing facility in Kenfig.
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Architectural Designer to join our dynamic team. You will play a key role in developing technical designs, coordinating design activities across RIBA stages 0-7, and preparing detailed drawings and schedules for manufacturing and construction. You will also be responsible for processing design amendments, managing contract variations, submitting building control applications, and handling the discharge of design-related planning conditions.

Key Responsibilities
- Architectural Design: Develop and ensure that designs meet client expectations, comply with building regulations, and align with the organization's design standards.
- Peer Review: Review, evaluate and provide feedback on the work of colleagues, including reviewing their designs, documents, and other deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy and adherence to company’s standards, clients brief and regulatory requirements;
- Product & System knowledge: Understanding of building systems and products and their limitations. Apply the knowledge of standard detail in design proposals.
- Design Coordination: Collaborate with project teams to ensure design intent is carried through all project phases. Engage with clients, consultants, and other stakeholders throughout RIBA stages 0-4 to develop design proposals, incorporate feedback and address design challenges;
- Design Documentation: Develop comprehensive models and drawing packages that accurately convey design intent, including 3D visualisations. Prepare detailed specification documents and schedules for project materials and components;
- Commercial Support: Analyse project requirements/ERs and adapt designs to meet client needs and project constraints. Prepare compelling design presentations and documentation for tender submissions;
- Planning Applications: Create drawings in collaboration with the wider team to ensure that all necessary documents and information are prepared and information submitted correctly for planning applications, including any necessary inhouse works, revisions, conditions and resubmissions;
- Building Regulations: Ensure that design proposals comply with building regulations and industry standards. Develop building control documentation, submit and coordinate applications, and facilitate approvals with building control authorities;
- Information Management: Organise and distribute design-related information, maintain accurate design documentation, drawings, and specifications;
- Building Information Modelling (BIM): Participate in projects requiring the use of BIM software and processes. Facilitate collaboration and coordination between design disciplines using BIM technologies, improving project efficiency and reducing errors;
- BREEAM/DREEAM Implementation: Ensure adherence to BREEAM/DREEAM standards throughout the design process, promoting sustainable design practices, and maximizing environmental performance in projects;
- Site Attendance: Attend internal and external meetings to support the delivery of projects in line with budget and programme requirements;
- Revit Library: Actively contribute to the development, enhancement, and management of company’s Revit library, ensuring it reflects the latest industry standards and best practices;
- Quality Assurance: Adhere to established quality procedures and standards to ensure the delivery of high-quality architectural designs and conduct regular reviews to ensure compliance with industry best practices;
- Personal Development: Establish and follow personal development plan to ensure alignment with industry standards and company goals. Stay up to date with requirements and changing industry standards through Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
- Team Contribution: Support members of technical, design and R&D teams.
- Hours of Working: Work outside normal working hours of business if required to meet agreed deadlines.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of architectural design principles, RIBA Plan of Work, building regulations, and construction practices
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Twinmotion, and BIM software
- Familiarity with BREEAM standards and sustainability best practices
- Strong understanding of Building systems, construction techniques and materials
- Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy
- Commercial awareness and understanding of project budgets
- At least two year of similar work experience is essential
