Job summary

HDR is seeking an Architectural Designer in London to contribute to all project phases from strategy to construction packages. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, develop drawings and models, and ensure design solutions meet budget and schedule while complying with UK planning regulations.

Required: RIBA Part II or equivalent and 2–5 years of UK experience in social infrastructure (health, data centres, education).

Qualifications

  • RIBA Part II or equivalent qualification and UK recognition.
  • Minimum 2–5 years UK project experience in social infrastructure, health, data centres, science and technology, education and community projects.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite; knowledge of Rhino/Grasshopper.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to all project phases: strategy, test fits, schematic plans and conceptual designs, and production of tender and construction packages.
  • Coordinate multi-discipline teams through the project life cycle under supervision of a Project Manager.
  • Prepare, develop and edit drawings, models, schedules and documents related to the design.
  • Coordinate workload to deliver on budget and schedule.
  • Apply UK planning and building regulations knowledge to projects.
  • Demonstrate design and technical awareness with a strong portfolio.
  • Contribute to social infrastructure and data centre projects.

In the role of Architectural Designer, we will count on you to:

  • Contribute to all project phases: project strategy, test fits, schematic plans and conceptual designs for schematic design, refine design solutions for design development, production of tender and construction packages.
  • Coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project’s life cycle (from development and initiation to close‑out), while under supervision of a Project Manager.
  • Prepare, develop and edit, under the guidance of the project leader or nominated architect, drawings, models, schedules, images and other documents relating to the design.
  • Coordinate workload through project execution and complete deliverables on budget and schedule.
  • Experience working within the UK planning and building regulations systems.
  • High level of design and technical awareness evidenced through a portfolio of project experience.
  • Responsible for many aspects of diverse and complex social infrastructure and/ or mission critical/ data centre projects
Required Qualifications
  • RIBA Part II (or equivalent)
  • A minimum of 2-5 years practical and industry experience in the UK (i.e. social infrastructure projects, including health, data centres, science and technology, education and community projects)
  • Passion for creativity and design
  • Initiative‑taking, with a proactive attitude and eager to learn
  • Excellent collaboration skills, good self-organisation and strong ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi‑task, prioritise and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office
  • Working knowledge and experience various platforms including Rhino, Grasshopper, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator
  • Understanding of computational and parametric design
  • Graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas
