Job summary

Househam Henderson is seeking an experienced project architect to join our international practice in Belfast. The role offers a hybrid working model with three days in the office and two days from home, with a salary of £27,750.

The ideal candidate will collaborate on a variety of projects and must be willing to travel for site visits. Responsibilities include supporting the team, producing technical documentation, and managing project quality standards.

Qualifications

  • A Part II accredited degree or equivalent is required for this role.
  • Experience in conducting client and design team meetings.
  • Ability to research project-specific technical and design elements.

Responsibilities

  • Support team in the delivery of commercial, retail, and residential projects.
  • Produce documentation including drawings, schedules, and specifications.

We offer a hybrid approach to working, with three days a week in the office and two days a week working from home. Core Hours are 9.30am – 3pm. A large proportion of our work is based in the UK, so candidates need to be willing and able to travel to these locations for site visits as required.

Role Responsibilities
  • Support the team in the technical delivery of commercial, retail, residential, industrial projects.
  • Conduct activities and produce outputs in line with relevant legislation and industry standards including drawings, schedules, specifications and reports under direct supervision of the Project Runner.
  • Produce presentation material, reports and models as required.
  • Support in ensuring all project agreements are in place and the terms of appointment and programme are clear.
  • Assist in the production of Planning, Landlord, Building Control, and other statutory applications.
  • Assist in the management of pre‑construction Health and Safety in line with CDM 2015 where Hyphen is acting as Principal Designer.
  • Attend and engage in client and design team meetings – minute meetings as required.
  • Undertake surveys or site visits to monitor works and produce documentation to communicate findings.
  • Support the production and management of the construction tendering process.
  • Liaise with and provide information to other consultants and incorporate their input as necessary.
  • Review drawings from other internal and external team members and produce mark‑ups where necessary.
  • Maintain appropriate project reporting through the Rapport system.
  • Adhere to Hyphen Quality Management System (QMS) and Technical Standards at all times.
  • Other tasks as reasonably required from time to time.
Non‑Project Responsibilities
  • Ad hoc administration duties.
  • Attend and contribute to office team meetings.
  • Keep up to date with the work of the office and company as a whole.
  • Develop appropriate understanding of UK legislation, planning, construction and health and safety.
  • Attend and contribute to office‑arranged CPD sessions.
  • Manage personal CPD.
Skills & Experience
  • Part II accredited degree or equivalent.
  • Attendance at client and design team meetings.
  • Research project‑specific technical and design elements such as building regulations, planning constraints and report back to the project runner.
  • Prepare and maintain meeting records.
  • Maintain day‑to‑day client project runner contact.
  • Support the technical service delivery for the project duration.
  • Communicate resource needs to the project runner where appropriate.
  • Maintain and contribute to the Project Quality Control System.
  • Raise any issues that may affect the agreed fee.
  • Participate in the contract administration process supporting the project runner.
  • Prepare design stage packages from concept, development, technical and construction stages.
  • Prepare technical details, sketches and drawings demonstrating the proposals.
  • Prepare reports at the end of each stage for review.
  • Research and prepare specific technical specifications for materials and standards of workmanship.
  • Carry site visits to ascertain project specifics or carry out measured surveys.
  • Manage small teams in the delivery of individual package designs (planning, specific work element).
  • Review and ensure all own work produced is to Hyphen standards prior to review by project runners or senior employees.
  • Right to work in the UK is required.
