Job Description

To assist with the development and management of a high quality, efficient and effective Professional Architectural Group as directed by the Principal Architect, all in accordance with the needs and priorities of the Council, relative to work commissions for internal and external Clients.

Requirements
  1. To assist the Principal Architect in all aspects of the management of the Architectural Group delegated by the Housing and Property Management Team, including budgets, staff resourcing, delegation of work and supervision.
  2. To perform all tasks relative to a professional Architect and take responsibility for design and specification aspects of allocated projects from inception to completion.
  3. To ensure the timeous provision of appropriate information to the Principal Architect, the Housing and Property Management Team, and to Clients on matters of legitimate concern.
  4. To assist with Best Value issues relating to the Architectural Group.
  5. To assist with planning and programming of Capital and Revenue works as requested, for all Clients.
  6. To be responsible for your own performance both individually and as part of a team and be willing to take appropriate steps to improve particular areas of performance.
The Individual
  1. Significant post qualification experience in an Architectural Practice.
  2. Experience of Educational Projects.
  3. Registered Architect with the Architects Registration Board.
  4. Willingness to work in a demanding position where a flexible approach is required.
  5. Ability to accept direction/ delegation.
  6. Ability to organise and supervise work and staff.
  7. Knowledge of policies, issues, procedures and practices, relating to the delivery of an Architectural Service.
  8. Contract Administration Experience.
  9. Experience of Microsoft Excel, Access and Outlook Express Software.
  10. Computer aided drafting skills.
  11. Analytical and numerical skills.
  12. Knowledge of the Scottish Building Standards 2015.
  13. Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
  14. Effective communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
  15. Ability to relate well to Colleagues, Elected Members and the Public.
  16. Understanding of the importance of effective team working.
  17. Ability to carry out survey work at all building levels, including basement and attic spaces, and site inspections at ground and roof level, including accessing scaffolding.
  18. Ability to work in an open plan office and in different offices depending on service requirements.
  19. Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service.
  20. Full driving licence.

Closing Date: tbc

Starting Salary: £43,204.20 (pro rata) Per Annum

Hourly Rate: £22.92 per hour
