Your Purpose

The Architecture & Design department is responsible for the interior and exterior design development of vessels within the MSC Cruises New Building Programme, working in partnership with technical, marine, and naval architecture teams. The Architect Manager is responsible for leading the interior and exterior design coordination of a specific Class of vessels of MSC Cruises. The role will ensure that all guest (and crew) areas of vessels within the brand are designed, developed, and outfitted in accordance with product and brand requirements while balancing schedules, quality, and cost. They will follow the project from concept to final delivery, be responsible for design package deliverables, coordinate technical information, and sign off on construction drawings received by the Yard and the delivery inspections onboard.

The role requires frequent visits to vessels in operation, shipyards, and subcontractors' premises to carry out supporting works as necessary.

Your Impact

  • Manage drawing approval and shipyard deliverables following owner approval of the concept.
  • Manage external architects/consultants and interactions with relevant shipyards (the builder). Act as escalation point for architectural development risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead the architectural and interior/exterior design value engineering process within projects, liaising with all stakeholders to ensure maximum value without compromising architectural intent.
  • Own the coordination and management of Owners Supply related to architectural components of new building projects, including Furniture, Artwork, Planting, and Decoration, with dedicated teams within the NB.
  • Work with Project & Site Teams to carry out final inspections and approvals of indoor and outdoor public areas, cabins, and suites as part of ship delivery activities. Validate that the final product meets the original design and intent.
  • Ensure adoption of standard business processes related to project management, commercial management, risk and issue management, and document/data management.
  • Support the Lead Manager as required and for board presentations.

Your Journey so far

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture/interior design, with a focus on Ship/Yacht design preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in architectural development.
  • Strong 2D and 3D drafting skills using AutoCAD / MicroStation / Rhino / Sketchup or similar.
  • Fluent in communication through presentations, reports, and documentation.
  • Availability to travel as required.
  • Ability to review and interpret technical drawings, product datasheets, and supplier specifications.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills within international, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
