Job description

A rare chance to shape the future of a respected local practice.

Confero Recruitment Group is partnering with a long‑established Ayrshire architectural studio to appoint an Architect who wants more than just another project cycle. We are looking for someone ready to step into a role with genuine long‑term opportunity, influence, and succession potential.

If you’re an Architect currently travelling to Glasgow for work, this is the moment to bring your career closer to home without compromising on project quality, ambition, or professional growth. The studio is entering an exciting new phase, and there has never been a better time to join.

Why This Role Matters

This is not a “replace and repeat” vacancy. The practice is actively planning for its future and is looking for an Architect who can become a key part of that journey. Someone who wants to contribute at a high level, help shape direction, and grow into a position of real influence.

You’ll join a close‑knit team known for thoughtful design, technical rigour, and meaningful work across Ayrshire and the west coast. Their project portfolio is varied, community‑centred and genuinely rewarding.

The Work You’ll Be Doing

You’ll take a leading role across a diverse range of projects, including:

  • Community buildings and civic spaces
  • Residential developments and affordable housing
  • Industrial and commercial developments
  • Visitor centres and whisky distilleries

This is hands‑on, end‑to‑end architecture, from concept and early design thinking through to technical delivery and completion.

What You’ll Gain
  • A genuinely local role with the same project variety you’d expect from a Glasgow studio
  • A supportive environment that values autonomy, initiative and professional development
  • The chance to step into succession planning, shaping the future of the practice
  • High‑level involvement in strategy, design direction and project leadership
  • A stable, friendly team culture with modern BIM workflows and strong consultant relationships
What They’re Looking For
  • Qualified Architect with a minimum of 3 years’ practice experience
  • Strong design sensibility with the ability to translate ideas into robust technical packages
  • Proficiency in BIM related software would help
  • Confident communicator who enjoys working closely with clients, consultants and a collaborative internal team
  • Solid working knowledge of Planning and Building Warrant processes
  • Organised, proactive and comfortable managing deadlines across multiple projects

Architects, Technologists or experienced Part IIs will all be considered, the emphasis is on capability, attitude and long‑term potential.
