Maccreanor Lavington is a multi-award winning, design led architectural practice with offices in London and Rotterdam. We work at scale, from whole city master plans to single storey dwellings, and have a team of people dedicated in the pursuit of good quality sustainable architecture.
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Architect to join our team. Ideally you will have worked across the RIBA stages, but have delved deeper into the delivering projects at stage 4+. Although we do work across different sectors this role is to join our UK housing architecture team where your previous experience in this sector coupled with excellent design skills will fit perfectly into the existing fabric of our team.
All of our work is done in Revit/BIM and so experience of this is a significant advantage. You will help oversee the work of others in the team, providing guidance and support, and will role model a balanced, efficient, and collaborative working style. You'll be committed to meeting deadlines, seeking to enhance and drive quality, whilst progressing towards a realistic outcome for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Researching and developing solutions to architectural problems.
- Preparing and/ or commissioning measured surveys and site reports
- Preparing presentation materials using Revit and by hand for internal and external purposes, including attending client and user presentations and incorporating feedback
- Drafting and amending concept and detail designs using Revit and by hand
- Drafting and amending technical designs and production information using Revit and by hand
- Establishing and integrating technical information and statutory requirements into design and production drawings, including preparation of drawings for planning and building control approval, tender and construction purposes
- Preparing written specifications and contract documentation, including assisting in drafting architects instructions and certificates
- Attending relevant internal and external meetings, following up action points and contributing to agenda items where appropriate.
- Attending site meetings with the project architect and contributing where appropriate.
- Attending internal project planning and office management meetings and contributing to project and office management where appropriate
- Assisting with running projects and supporting other team members in the design and delivery of a range of projects
- Maintaining of office and project files, preparing drawing issues. Maintaining project QA records.
- Researching project briefs, materials and construction products and systems
- Undertaking post completion assessment and de-briefing for clients and building users.
- The postholder is expected to work as a team with other members of staff in the practice and will act to guide, support, and supervise the work of more junior architects.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Education and Experience
- ARB registered
- Previous experience of large scale housing projects in the UK is essential
- Previous experience working at RIBA Stage 4+ essential
- BRPD or an interest in working towards qualification

Technical skills
- Revit skills are essential
- Excellent design ability and presentation skills
- Understanding of building technologies and environmental design and ability to employ structural theories, construction techniques and processes
- Knowledge of technical standards, regulatory frameworks and health and safety requirements
- Construction experience
- Design and detailing of building works
- Experience and knowledge of Revit
- Knowledge of other software including AutoCAD, Creative Suite, SketchUp, VRay, 3dsMax or Enscape is desirable (however training can be provided)
- Understanding of how a business operates and the factors involved in the management of an architectural project
- Knowledge of the professional duty of care arising from the relationships between client and architects, employer and employee.
- Experience of Client and stakeholder negotiation, Consultation and Contract administration is desirable
