Job summary

Coventry City Council is seeking a Tree Preservation Officer to deliver a high‑quality tree service as part of the Planning Policy and Environment team.

The role is part-time (24 hours per week) and requires the ability to work independently and as part of a large team; guaranteed interview scheme applies for eligible groups, and Right to Work in the UK is required with no sponsorship offered.

Qualifications

• Arboriculturist with strong technical knowledge.
• Experience working with local community groups and delivering complex projects.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a large team.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice on applications for works to protected trees and those in Conservation Areas, and other planning matters as required
• Identify worthy trees and make new Tree Preservation Orders
• Defend tree applications at appeals, and liaise with Planning Enforcement when breaches of TPOs exist
• This is a part-time role (24 hours per week)
