Job summary

Mansfield District Council is looking for a skilled Tree Officer to manage, protect and enhance the District’s tree stock, combining practical arboricultural work with statutory planning responsibilities, public enquiries, contractor supervision and support for the Council’s future Tree Strategy.

You will be the Council’s first point of contact for tree matters, providing specialist arboricultural advice to departments, elected Members, residents, contractors and other stakeholders, responding

Qualifications

• Degree in Arboriculture or equivalent.
• Full driving licence.
• Experience with statutory bodies, residents, Councillors and Council officers desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide arboricultural advice to Council departments, elected Members, residents, contractors and other stakeholders.
• Respond to operational and emergency tree issues, investigate enquiries and complaints, ensure works are completed safely and to required standards.
• Organise day-to-day tree-related activity, commission and supervise external contractors, and communicate work requirements and standards to staff and contractors.
• Assist with on-call rota and attend Council meetings as required.
• Support the Council’s Tree Strategy development and implementation.
