Job summary

WSP is seeking an Associate Arboricultural Consultant to lead complex arboricultural commissions, ensuring quality, budget and programme alignment while growing client relationships across the UK.

You will develop technical approaches for BS5837 and related areas, support career development, and contribute to a sustainable national arboriculture and forestry offer integrated with our Nature Services business.

Qualifications

• Substantial arboricultural consultancy experience with a record of leading complex projects.
• Track record in major infrastructure, DCO/NSIP, EIA, public sector frameworks or expert evidence.
• Strong technical review capability and ability to communicate complex information clearly.
• Commercial confidence in pricing, scope management, project controls and risk/opportunity management.
• Experience mentoring and developing others, including identifying skills gaps and training needs.
• Ability to support work winning and maintain strong client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Direct complex arboricultural commissions, ensuring quality, budget, programme and client requirements are met.
• Develop and review technical approaches for BS5837, EIA, DCO/NSIP, veteran/ancient tree and construction-stage deliverables.
• Support people managers in developing career pathways, mentoring arrangements and technical training.
• Build relationships with clients, authorities, industry bodies and internal disciplines to generate work and create value.
• Drive best practice, QA consistency, knowledge management and continuous improvement across the team.
