Job Description

Join the Forestry and Arboriculture team to provide advice on forestry and arboricultural issues, including tree risk management, safety surveys, BS5837 surveys, and implementation of recommendations. The role emphasizes arboricultural advice but benefits from some understanding of forestry and woodland management. Monitoring contractors requires knowledge of arboricultural operations.

The position involves business development, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and developing services like GIS mapping and databases. Based at Wytham Court, Oxford, within the South/Central region team, the role also involves advising on tree safety policies and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Deliver tree condition surveys
2. Develop tree risk zoning and management plans
3. Manage tendering, appointment, and monitoring of tree work
4. Conduct BS5837 surveys
5. Advise on amenity tree care
6. Liaise with clients and internal teams on tree and woodland matters
7. Engage in business development activities
8. Support team members' career development through training, coaching, and mentoring

Team Overview

The South/Central Forestry and Arboriculture team offers services including arboricultural consultancy, woodland management, new woodland creation, timber harvesting, and forest valuation. This role focuses on arboricultural consultancy, delivering surveys, risk management, and overseeing remedial work, with some business development involved. Understanding woodland management is advantageous but not essential.

The Oxford role extends the existing team, which includes 11 consultants and a coordinator. It aims to expand our work and team in the Central region, working closely with colleagues across disciplines like planning, development, and natural capital. Travel within the region may be required.

We provide advice on various tree management issues for clients ranging from large estates to charities and corporations. The team is expanding, offering long-term career growth and training. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.
