Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking an APQP Specialist to ensure airworthiness and regulatory compliance for aerospace products. Based in Hertfordshire, you will support design reviews, risk mitigation, and quality in DEV programs to prevent in-service failures.

The role requires 3–5 years in aerospace or equivalent, strong knowledge of EASA/CAA Part 21J, and hands-on experience with APQP tools such as PPAP and FMEA. On-site position with a 12-month Inside IR35 contract.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace, science or engineering preferred.
  • 3–5 years' aerospace experience in engineering, design & development or quality roles.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001/AS9100 QMS deployment and implementation.
  • Understanding of EASA/CAA Part 21J requirements.
  • Experience with internal/external audits and lead auditor training preferred.
  • APQP tools knowledge with PPAP, FMEA and MSA.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure design documentation for product airworthiness meets EASA/CAA Part 21J and customer requirements.
  • Support design reviews and DEV stages to integrate quality, safety and producibility into designs.
  • Review and validate technical documentation for design performance.
  • Support RCCA, FRACA, and corrective actions to prevent in-service failures.
  • Deploy APQP tools for NPI to improve designs before full production.
  • Contribute to DFMEA/PFMEA with Six Sigma thinking during DEV stages.

APQP Specialist

Your role will ensure engineering designs meet safety, regulatory (EASA, CAA) and customer requirements before production commences, focusing on risk mitigation and process compliance.

You are responsible for maintaining design assurance oversight in line with Part 21J airworthiness requirements and Design Organization Handbook (DOH) requirements applicable to the customer product line, defining company processes and procedures, primarily working towards ensuring 100% compliance with airworthiness.

Principal accountabilities
  • Ensure all design, design change and technical documentation for product continued airworthiness meet EASA/CAA Part 21J airworthiness and customer requirements.
  • Support design reviews PDR/ CDR and all stages of DEV program to integrate quality, safety and producibility into initial design.
  • Technical documentation reviewed and validated to confirm design performance.
  • Facilitating and supporting root cause corrective actions (RCCA), failure reporting and corrective actions (FRACA) analysis & practical problem-solving activities with corrective action sustainment monitoring in place to prevent in service failures.
  • APQP tools deployed for NPI to improve designs prior to full production.
  • Actively supporting DFMEA/ PFMEA, Quality champion during DEV process stages for FMEA update.
  • Internal/ external FAIRs/PPAPs compiled and/ or approved where required with status reported.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace, science, or engineering highly desirable.
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in aerospace industry or equivalent at engineering, design & development, or quality positions.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100 QMS standards deployment and implementation.
  • Understanding and demonstrated application of EASA/CAA part 21J.
  • Experience in internal and external audit and auditing techniques, lead auditor trained preferred.
  • APQP Tools knowledge with proficiency demonstrated working with PPAP, FMEA and MSA.
  • Problem solving proficiency including 8D, RCCA, FRACA with Six Sigma DMAIC principles and Green or Black being desired.
  • Configuration and data management experience.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models and technical specifications.
