Occasional travel may be required across the local area and nationally, however these activities will be undertaken using remote technology, where possible

WORKING HOURS: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Requirement to be on-call rota and work outside of normal working hours including evening and weekends when required (this is not regular)
OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Approved Premises Manager who has a Diploma in Probation Studies or Level 3 Diploma in Probation Practice or equivalent, and a good working knowledge of the Probation Service / Criminal Justice Sector.
The organisation operates two Independent Approved Premises (IAP) in Newcastle, offering a total of 46 beds for individuals assessed by the Probation Service as presenting a high or very high risk of serious harm. The services provide intensive, enhanced supervision for prison leavers, ROTL placements and emergency community placements. The organisation work in close partnership with a wide range of agencies to ensure robust risk management, effective rehabilitation and community safety. They are also supported by strong local networks and multi-agency collaboration.
As the Approved Premises Manager you will be responsible for giving management oversight of residents and provide risk management expertise to ensure a top quality service that is effective in protecting the public and lead continuous practice improvement and high-quality service delivery within the IAP.
Working as the Approved Premises Manager you will be leading and overseeing the development of high-quality practice amongst operational staff through observations, audits and development activities, as well as supporting the Approved Premises Strategic Manager (APSM), deputising for them as required in the day to day running of the Independent Approved Premises (IAP).
DUTIES | Approved Premises Manager
• Operational Management: Lead the daily operations of the Approved Premises, optimising resources and ensuring a high-quality, supportive environment for residents
• Staff Development: Foster a culture of continuous professional development, overseeing training and professional growth for all team members
• Risk and Safeguarding: Provide expert risk management and embed robust safeguarding practices to ensure the safety of residents, staff, visitors, and the wider community
• Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders to enhance the reputation and public protection contributions of the Approved Premises
• Leadership and Oversight: Offer decisive leadership and guidance to the team, directly managing staff and ensuring accountability and high standards are met through quality assurance
• Policy and Practice: Drive continuous improvement by reviewing and developing local policy and practice for the Approved Premises and the supervision of its residents
REQUIREMENTS
• Probation Qualification: Diploma in Probation Studies or Level 3 Diploma in Probation Practice or equivalent
• Criminal Justice Sector: A good working knowledge of the Probation Service/Criminal Justice Sector
• Multi-Agency Working: Experience of multi-agency working
• Enabling Environments: Knowledge of Enabling Environments
• Practice Development: Experience of delivering activities to develop the quality of practice, with individuals who have multiple complex needs
• Diversity and Inclusion: Understanding of diversity, equalities and inclusive practice
• Coaching and Development: Experience of coaching and developing individuals and teams, to create an inclusive enabling environment
• Risk and Safeguarding: Experience of managing risk and safeguarding
• Desistance and Trauma-Informed Approaches: Experience and knowledge of desistance and trauma informed approaches to achieving positive change and reducing reoffending
DESIRABLE
• Communication & Leadership: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and motivate staff
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Organisational Skills: Proven ability to manage time, plan effectively, and prioritise competing demands to meet deadlines and organisational objectives
• IT Literacy: Proficient in using IT and information systems to manage data effectively

• Workshop Facilitation: Skilled in facilitating workshops and practice discussions
This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check with the additional barred list check. All required checks will be undertaken as part of the pre-employment process for any successful candidate.
