Job summary

City of Doncaster Council is seeking an Approved Mental Health Professional to lead the authority on statutory assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983. The post involves coordinating multi-agency referrals, ensuring timely responses, and fulfilling statutory duties within a supportive team.

The AMHP will work a 3-day rota including evenings to cover 18:30–07:00 shifts, contributing to improved outcomes for individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

Qualifications

• The role requires An Approved Mental Health Professional with the ability to coordinate statutory assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983.
• Experience and sensitivity in multi-agency collaboration and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Manage referrals and requests for assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983.
• Coordinate statutory assessments and ensure duties are carried out in line with MHA 1983.
• Work on a rota covering evenings and weekends as required.

Job description

Based at: Tickhill Road Site, Tickhill Road, Balby, Doncaster, DN4 8QN

Salary details: Grade 10 - £48,227- £52,414 (pay award pending) plus an All Inclusive Allowance of up to 16% (pro rata)

Contract Type: Permanent, Full time

Hours: 37 hours to be worked in line with a new rota / condensed hours over three days, covering a 7 day working week pattern

The AMHP Team provides a single route of access to all requests for assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983 in the Doncaster Borough. The remit of the AMHP Team is to provide a timely response to individuals who have been identified as in need of an assessment under the Mental Health Act 1983.

As an AMHP you will be responsible for managing referrals and requests for assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983. You will have overall responsibility for co-ordinating statutory assessments under the MHA 1983 and all other statutory duties and functions of an AMHP.

The post holder will be expected to work a range of shifts (covering 18:30 -07:00 Monday - Sunday, in line with service demand) on a 3 day rota pattern.
