Main duties of the job

Our Service

The Devon AMHP Service is recognized as a national example of good practice and has contributed to the development of the AMHP National Service Standards and other initiatives. We continuously seek to improve our service, including capturing and utilizing the voices of those assessed under the Mental Health Act and enhancing practice for the benefit of service users.

About the role

The role of daytime AMHPs within Devon County Council has evolved recently. The primary work base will be Exeter, with expectations to travel across the county and support all areas. Our AMHPs work flexibly with internal and external partners to respond effectively to individuals at risk of detention or restriction under the Mental Health Act. Responsibilities include frontline duty, working with crisis teams, wards, community teams, street triage, police, CAMHS, and other services to ensure appropriate legal responses. Additionally, AMHPs will manage a small caseload of community MHA and social supervision patients to support individuals and their teams. Hybrid working options, combining home and office-based work, are available.
