The full-time starting salary is normally £34,226.00 per annum, with progression available in the post to £37,203.00 per annum.

Birmingham City University is a large and diverse place to study, located in the heart of the city. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Apprenticeship Skills Coach (Built Environment) within the Directorate of Student and Academic Services (SAAS).
The Directorate of Student and Academic Services (SAAS) leads the development and provision of outstanding student-facing services. It is responsible for ensuring students have an excellent experience and provides services across the student and academic lifecycle, from enrolment to graduation, including wellbeing services and course setup. The Directorate is undergoing a transformation to make these services more efficient and effective.
The post holder will work with the Built Environment programme team to facilitate reviews between apprentices and employers, liaising with academic staff. Engagement with employers and apprentices is key to ensuring that BCU’s apprenticeship programmes meet expectations and comply with governance standards.
You will collaborate with academic staff and apprenticeship account managers to ensure systems and processes are followed, maintaining high standards of quality and compliance according to service level agreements. Responsibilities include organizing visits with external clients, apprentices, and staff for quality reviews and audits. The role also involves supporting learners with additional needs.
Relevant work experience in the Built Environment sector related to UK apprenticeship standards is required. Knowledge of current degree and apprenticeship programmes above Level 4, funding, quality, compliance processes, and systems, as well as emerging apprenticeship standards, EPA, and the Apprenticeship Levy, is essential. A satisfactory DBS disclosure at Enhanced level is also required.

The successful candidate will typically be employed through our subsidiary, BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University. Candidates with prior LGPS membership who wish to join the LGPS scheme will be able to do so and will be employed directly by Birmingham City University.
