Overview of End-Point Assessment (EPA): The government requires that all apprenticeships include an end-point assessment (EPA), which evaluates the Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviors (KSBs) acquired during the apprenticeship. Pearson ensures that assessments are consistent and meet high standards, confirming that apprentices are fully job-ready.

Role of Lead IQA: The Lead IQA will oversee leadership duties to ensure accurate assessment decisions from independent assessors and undertake duties to adhere to external quality assurance guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit and train new IEAs within the team
  • Mentor new IEAs
  • Support assessment practice development through standardization activities
  • Conduct remote sampling of assessments
  • Provide guidance on electronic systems
  • Contribute to assessment ratings and continuous improvement
  • Support stakeholder engagement and webinars
  • Maintain accurate records for audits
  • Engage in professional development
  • Manage service levels and report on feedback
  • Identify and escalate risks affecting assessment validity

Essential Experience and Qualifications

  • Meets occupational profile requirements for the EPA standard
  • Recent relevant experience in mammography or related sector
  • HCPC registered radiographer practicing within NHS Breast Screening
  • Internal quality assurance qualification (minimum 3 years)
  • Experience managing assessor teams
  • Knowledge of quality assurance/regulatory requirements

Desirable Background and Skills

  • Current DBS clearance
  • Knowledge of safeguarding
  • Strong communication skills
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Technical knowledge of legislation and assessment tools

Additional Requirements

  • Personal IT equipment and broadband
  • Appropriate audio-visual hardware
