Job Title: Apprenticeship Coach - Vehicle Mechanic

At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world. Join us as an Apprenticeship Coach within our Land Training division and play a vital role in supporting national security through vehicle maintenance training.

The role

As an Apprenticeship Coach - Vehicle Mechanic, you will visit workplace learners, leveraging your vocational expertise to deliver training, coaching, assessment, and support to achieve their apprenticeships.

  1. Support and motivate learners throughout their apprenticeship, ensuring timely completion and compliance with all requirements.
  2. Monitor and review learner progress aligned with client expectations.
  3. Complete all necessary documentation accurately and promptly.
  4. Guide learners on portfolio development based on their program requirements.
  5. Record, plan, and track learner progress using standard reporting tools.

This full-time position (37 hours/week) is based at any of our Land Division locations in the southwest, including Lyneham, Warminster, Colerne, Larkhill, or Bulford, with travel four days a week to learner workplaces and one day remote for admin tasks.

Flexible working arrangements, including part-time, condensed hours, and job sharing, may be available. Please discuss options during the interview.

Essential experience
  • Extensive experience in vehicle mechanics
  • Understanding of work-based learning programs
  • Experience in the defense sector, ideally within the army (desired but not essential)
Qualifications
  • Industry-related qualification (minimum Level 3 in Vehicle Mechanics)
  • Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (desirable)
  • Award/Certificate in Education & Training (or equivalent)
  • GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent)

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must obtain and maintain Enhanced DBS and Child Barring Service (EDBSCBL) security clearances. Some roles may require additional security checks based on national security regulations.
