Job description

Main Duties of the role:

Work with the Quality Manager to design and implement learning resources and assessment methods to ensure learners gather high-quality evidence towards their apprenticeship standard, uploading these to their designated e-portfolio system and learning plan.

Complete induction and onboarding processes, including training plans and apprenticeship agreements, as required.

Deliver training, workshops, and one-to-one support and coaching sessions according to the approved delivery plan and e-portfolio milestones.

Ensure all sessions include content that helps apprentices develop new knowledge, skills, and behaviors, and are confident to apply these in their workplace.

Confirm that resources are approved and fit for purpose before use, in collaboration with the Quality Manager.

Deliver embedded and standalone maths, English, and digital skills as part of the curriculum (intent).

Support MIT employees, mentors, and employers in understanding their commitments and responsibilities towards apprentices.

Respond promptly to requests for information from the allocated Learning Coach.

Understand, adhere to, and apply MITSkills Safeguarding and Prevent procedures to ensure learners feel safe and protected at all times.

Plan and deliver learning to meet off-the-job commitments.

Assist Skills Coaches in overcoming barriers to learning, adapting delivery to meet learners' needs, and signposting for additional support to ensure access to high-quality, impartial information, advice, and guidance (IAG).

Maintain documentation on learner progress throughout the learner journey, in conjunction with Sector Leads.

Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings and at various locations as required.

Support observation and peer observation processes by providing access to work schedules and information.

Conduct formative and summative internal verifications under the guidance of the Quality Lead.

Manage own diary effectively to ensure timely visits and reviews, maintaining an up-to-date calendar for quality assurance processes.

Identify at-risk apprentices early, provide additional support, and inform Operations accordingly.

Comply with internal and external quality standards, audits, and inspections.

Promote and adhere to policies on Equality and Diversity, British Values, Safeguarding, Anti-Bullying, and Peer-on-Peer Abuse.

Follow Health and Safety arrangements as directed by policies and risk assessments.

Collaborate with colleagues to achieve company objectives.

Maintain qualifications, competencies, and CPD records to ensure current practice aligned with relevant KSBs for the standards delivered.

Lead working groups and CPD sessions as directed.

Ensure own and Skills Coaches' CPD records are up to date.

  • Monitor and manage team performance against KPIs to meet contractual targets.
  • Provide training, coaching, and ongoing development for the team.
  • Meet personal KPIs to support company targets.
  • Lead, monitor, and collaborate with Coaches to meet allocation, capacity, and deadlines, ensuring quality delivery.
  • Guide and support Skill Coaches to maintain assessment and teaching quality and consistency.
  • Plan and monitor formative and summative internal verification.
  • Coordinate and lead external quality assurance visits.
  • Champion IAG practices, ensuring Coaches deliver effective IAG aligned with MITSkills policies.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance systems for assessment, verification, and support processes.
  • Participate in staff development and appraisals under HR guidance.
  • Produce and present monthly management reports to senior management.
  • Conduct OTLA sessions as directed.

    Develop and monitor sampling strategies for qualifications.

    Ensure schemes of work are used to plan learner journeys, mapped to KSBs.

    Develop and review training plans and prior learning documents.

    Participate in recruitment and selection of new Skills Coaches.

    Key Performance Indicators Skills Coach Management:

    • Complete sector reviews with apprentices and employers/mentors every 8 weeks.
    • Ensure full compliance with QA systems for assessment and verification.
    • Observe all delivery stages, providing developmental support.
    • Achieve at least a 75% success rate at EPA and timely gateway completion.
    • Maintain a minimum Grade 2 observation grade across the department.
    • Strive for 100% learner and employer satisfaction, maintaining at least 90%.
    • Provide management reports and RAG ratings for learners.
    • Sample learning plans and reviews monthly for compliance.
    • Conduct OTLA sessions reflecting the schedule.
    • Lead sector standardisation activities per the quality calendar.
    • Complete tasks aligned with the quality calendar.
