Job summary

The Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust is offering an apprenticeship to help you gain experience, learn work‑related skills and achieve a Level 3 qualification. You will spend about 20% training time and help improve patient experience across the Trust.

As part of the role you will support patients, carers and families, collect feedback, contribute to service improvements and work with the PALS and wider NHS teams in a caring, patient‑focused environment.

Qualifications

  • English and Maths at level 2 or equivalent (GCSE 9-4 or A-C).
  • NVQ level 3 in related subject or willingness to undertake a Level 3 Apprenticeship.
  • Custody of patient feedback collection and reporting responsibilities described in the role.

Responsibilities

  • Support patients, carers and families to share experiences of care.
  • Assist with collection of feedback through surveys, interviews and patient stories.
  • Support the PALS function alongside the Trust team.
  • Encourage participation from under-represented groups.

Job description

As an apprentice within RDaSH you will be given the opportunity to gain experience, learn work‑related skills and obtain all the tools needed to thrive. An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. Around 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying. This leads to a nationally recognised qualification. Whether you already work for us or are joining the Trust and NHS for the first time, apprenticeships can help you to develop the skills, knowledge and know‑how in order to embark on a successful and fulfilling career within the health service.

Main duties of the job The post holder will support patients, carers and families to share their experiences of care and ensure their voices contribute to service improvement across the Trust.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Listening to patient, carer and family experiences and supporting them to share feedback, concerns, compliments and suggestions for improvement
  • Supporting the delivery of the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) function alongside the Patient Safety, Carer & Community Team
  • Encouraging participation from people whose voices are often under‑represented
  • Assisting with the collection of feedback through surveys, interviews, patient stories and Care Opinion

If you don't already have a Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, RDaSH are offering this post alongside the opportunity for you to complete a Level 3 apprenticeship qualification [relevant to your role].

  • NVQ level 3 in related subject or willingness to undertake a relevant Level 3 Apprenticeship

  • Experience of dealing with members of the public who may be distressed / demanding / have mental health problems or a learning disability
  • Significant experience working with the NHS
  • Experience of participating in patient forums, service user groups or peer support programmes
  • Experience of delivering presentations or training
