Job summary

Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH) is recruiting for a Band 7 ADHD prescriber to deliver a high-quality specialist ADHD service for adults across RDASH. The role encompasses initiation, titration and ongoing management of ADHD treatment, within a multidisciplinary team in Doncaster.

The post requires independent prescribing rights, current nursing or pharmacy registration, and a commitment to dementia/neurodiversity care within mental health services.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RMN, RNLD) or Pharmacist with current registration.
• Up-to-date CPD evidence.
• Motivation and genuine interest in Neurodiversity.
• Hold V300 or working towards it.
• Independent Prescribing qualification.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of adults with ADHD across RDASH localities.
• Provide direct nursing judgement and treatment interventions for ADHD.
• Exercise Independent prescribing rights using guidelines and protocols.
• Participate in ethical decision making within the MDT for patient interests.
• Manage assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge autonomously.
• Undertake risk assessments and risk management for individuals and families.
• Maintain knowledge of ADHD policy developments locally and nationally.
• Provide high quality support and advice to health and other professionals.
• Supervise the implementation and monitoring of new ADHD developments.
• Promote shared care arrangements and collaborative approaches.

Job summary

To provide a high-quality specialist ADHD service to patients and their families across RDASH services. The post holder will be a prescriber for initiation, titration and ongoing management of ADHD treatment

Main duties of the job

• To provide comprehensive expert assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of Adults with ADHD across the RDASH localities. Review with others the assessment and monitoring of adults identified with ADHD.
• Provide direct nursing judgement and treatment interventions based on skills and knowledge regarding clinical management and educational management of adults with ADHD.
• Exercise Independent prescribing rights using guidelines and protocols
• Ensure that the patient's interests are fully considered within the context of care, actively participating in ethical decision making within the multi-disciplinary team.
• Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge of patients.
• To undertake risk assessments and risk management for individuals and their families.
• To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to ADHD.
• To provide high quality support and advice to health and other professionals
• To supervise the implementation and monitoring of new developments in ADHD.
• To promote and co-ordinate the implementation of shared care arrangements.
• Facilitate the resolution of potentially conflicting and antagonistic opinions of stakeholders in order that a collaborative approach is received by the service user and their family.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Registered Nurse (RMN, RNLD, Pharmacist)
• Evidence up to date and applicable CPD
• Motivated with genuine interest in Neurodiversity.
• Hold V300 (Independent Supplementary Prescribing) or actively working towards this.
• Independent Prescribing Qualification

Desirable

• Evidence of extensive post registration learning & development.
• Previous experience in Clinical Leadership and delivering leadership clinical supervision.
• Completed UKAAN training with experience as a diagnostician or willing to work towards.

Knowledge

Essential

• Ability to prioritise busy workload/caseload.
• Use the full range of person-centred alternative and argumentative communication strategies
• Able to cope with stressful situations and remain positive in the face of clinical pressures

Desirable

• Evidence of knowledge pertaining to policy drivers locally and nationally
• Ability to contribute to development of service delivery
