Job Description:

Better places, thriving communities.

Location:Glasgow or Edinburgh

Looking for a new direction, a freshopportunity, or a chance to grow your skills in a hands-on, supportive environment?

Whether you're returning to work, exploring a second career, or simply ready to try something different – this could be the start of something brilliant.

At Mitie, we care deeply about the people and places we support. As the UK's leading facilities management company, we help keep buildings safe, welcoming, and working smoothly – from offices and universities to hospitals and heritage sites. We're proud to be partnering with the Scottish Government, delivering essential services to over 70 sites across the country – including research centres, Marine Scotland buildings, and the First Minister's residence.

As an Apprentice Mobile Maintenance Engineer, you'll be part of a friendly, supportive team that helps keep important public buildings running smoothly. Every day is different – from checking heating systems to painting, plumbing or fixing a fault.

You'll:

  • Travel to different sites with a fully qualified engineer
  • Learn a broad range of practical skills – including joinery, decorating, plumbing, and basic electrical work
  • Build your confidence and capability through mentoring, shadowing and hands-on experience
  • Help create clean, safe and comfortable spaces for people to work and visit
  • Learn how to work safely and sustainably, with guidance every step of the way

You'll attend in-person training every three months in Worcester for 2–3 days at a time, with travel and accommodation fully covered. You'll also have access to online learning and a dedicated support team throughout your apprenticeship.

This apprenticeship is designed for people from all walks of life – not just school leavers. Whether you're retraining, re-entering the workforce, or changing careers, you'll be warmly welcomed and fully supported. We especially encourage applications from women and others currently underrepresented in technical roles.

You'll earn a salary while gaining a nationally recognised Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative qualification. You'll learn by doing – in a role that offers variety, purpose, and the chance to make a real impact in your community.

Who We're Looking For

  • Eager to learn and open to trying new things
  • Looking for a stable, long-term career they can grow into

No previous experience in engineering or maintenance is needed – just a genuine interest in learning and a positive approach.
