Job description

About The Role

Are you a friendly and outgoing person who is looking for a career with a company that really values your contribution and can offer you award-winning training opportunities? Read on as we may have just the apprenticeship you are looking for!

Our apprentices are the future of our business. On our 21-month apprenticeship programme you will learn the skills to become a successful Traffic Management Operative with a fantastic range of future career options ahead of you. If you enjoy working outdoors, being part of a team and you thrive in a hands-on role there could not be a more exciting time to join us. Following successful completion of your apprenticeship you will be offered a permanent role, with one of the best rental equipment providers in the industry.

On a daily basis, you’ll work within one of our depots and travel to sites where you will learn to:

  1. Deliver and install traffic management equipment to customer sites, in line with Sunbelt Rentals standards and legal guidelines
  2. Establish traffic management schemes and deal with ongoing traffic issues
  3. Ensure customers are fully briefed on the correct use of equipment and can operate safely
  4. Check all returned traffic management equipment against relevant documentation
  5. Maintain traffic equipment and carry out effective repairs
  6. Understand all procedures and develop the ability to complete documentation accurately, predominantly using an electronic device
  7. Communicate effectively with customers and the public.

We’ll provide you with a comprehensive company induction, role-specific training, and apprenticeship support. You will become a part of a larger apprentice cohort where you will be able to form lifelong relationships and engage in a wider support network.

We’ll also support your personal growth and development in line with your Sunbelt Rentals career aspirations. You will attend both in-house and manufacturer courses to expand your product knowledge and skills.

Apprenticeship Training

You will be completing a level 2 Lead Traffic Management Operative Apprenticeship Standard. This will be delivered using a combination of:

  1. Workplace experience to gain practical skills
  2. Guidance and training from an experienced workplace mentor
  3. Industry recognised training, delivered in the workplace and leading to an apprenticeship qualification.

About the Application Process

  1. Complete the application
  2. You will be asked some additional screening questions, which will need to be completed before progressing to the next stage of the process
  3. Your application will be reviewed by our Recruitment Team and you may be invited to complete a video interview
  4. If successful at video interview, you will then be invited to one of our online assessment centres.
  5. From there, again if successful, your application will be passed to the hiring manager at Sunbelt Rentals, who will arrange an interview with you at the centre/depot.

About You

What you will need to bring to the role from day one:

  1. Enthusiasm
  2. Motivation to learn new skills
  3. Responsible behaviour
  4. Ability to work in a team
  5. Good written and verbal communication skills
  6. Attention to detail
  7. Ability to follow instructions
  8. Initiative
  9. An eagerness to understand our product range and the wider Sunbelt Rentals business
  10. The ability to engage and build relationships with both internal and external customers
  11. A flexible and adaptable approach
  12. A keen interest in working outdoors
  13. Aged 18+ due to site working
  14. GCSE or equivalent Grade 3 or above in Maths and English
