Job summary

Southampton City Council is offering an Apprenticeship role within the Young People’s Service. The position supports the day-to-day running of the service, with supervision, training and a dedicated mentor throughout your training.

You will gain experience in Children’s Social Care while working toward a Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship. The role is a learning opportunity with a strong focus on developing professional skills and progressing within the council.

Qualifications

  • No previous experience in Children’s Services required; role focuses on potential, motivation and willingness to learn.
  • Apprenticeship includes on-the-job training with supervision and a recognised qualification.
  • Structured apprenticeship with regular supervision and support from manager and team.

Responsibilities

  • Organise meetings, send invitations, prepare documents.
  • Liaise with professionals and partner agencies to support multi-agency work.
  • Maintain accurate records and update systems.
  • Assist with diaries, calendars and team rotas.
  • Track key processes to ensure deadlines are met; respond to emails professionally.
  • Assist with onboarding tasks for new staff.

At Southampton City Council we are committed to paying Foundation Living Wage as a minimum and we believe apprentices should also be paid fairly. Your salary as an apprentice will be £25,614 annually and may increase in line with any national rise in Foundation Living Wage.

Although we can’t guarantee you a permanent job at the end of your apprenticeship, we will support you to apply for other roles within the council, and help make sure you are ready for a wider job search with support from our Employment Skills team.

About the role:

Southampton City Council’s Young People’s Service is looking to recruit an Apprentice Team Standards Coordinator (TSC) to join our busy and dynamic team.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in Children’s Social Care while working towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification. You will support the service with a range of administrative and coordination tasks, working alongside practitioners who support vulnerable young people across the city.

This is a learning role and fullsupport;training and supervision will be provided.

You will be working towards the Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship with Fareport. The duration of this apprenticeship is 18 months with 3 months for the End Point Assessment.

Additional information:

This role is a 21 months fixed term apprenticeship, 37 hours a week

Please note the salary quoted is based on full time hours (37 hours).
