Job summary

ESS is seeking a motivated Trainee Survey Equipment Technician to join our workshop team in Castleford. The role focuses on maintenance, repair and calibration of survey equipment with access to manufacturer training and the chance to learn from experienced technicians.

This entry-level position offers growth within a specialist field, exposure to total stations, GNSS receivers and laser equipment, and a supportive environment to develop practical skills and problem solving.

Qualifications

• Must have genuine interest in technology, engineering or problem solving.
• Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
• Good attention to detail and methodical approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist workshop technicians with inspection, servicing, calibration and repair of survey equipment.
• Learn to diagnose mechanical, electronic and software faults and carry out repairs under guidance.
• Test and verify equipment performance for hire, sale or return.
• Maintain accurate service records using in-house software.
• Support colleagues with technical queries and customer enquiries.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment following procedures.
• Participate in training to develop technical knowledge.
