Job summary

Glenfield Invicta Ltd, part of The AVK Group, offers an apprenticeship to become a site technician, supporting installation, maintenance and commissioning of mechanical equipment on customer sites in the water sector.

You will learn to read drawings, follow procedures and perform inspections while attending college training and progressing toward full qualification as a site technician. The program runs for several years with hands-on learning.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or higher.
  • Willing to undertake apprenticeship coursework and attendance at college.
  • Physically fit and able to work on site and on water industry projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation of penstocks, valves, actuators and mechanical equipment on sites.
  • Learn to read engineering drawings and site plans.
  • Support mechanical fitting, alignment, assembly and testing activities.
  • Use hand tools, power tools safely and correctly.
  • Assist with inspection, maintenance and repair of mechanical assets.
  • Participate in site preparation, equipment setup and commissioning activities.
  • Follow health, safety, environmental and quality procedures at all times.
  • Maintain records of work and materials used.
  • Work as part of a site team and communicate with colleagues and clients.
  • Attend college sessions and complete apprenticeship coursework and assessments.

Introduction

To support the installation, maintenance, repair and commissioning of mechanical equipment on customer sites. The role provides practical experience in mechanical engineering within the water industry and supports the development of the skills and competencies required to become a qualified Site Technician.

What You'll Do
  • Assist with the installation of penstocks, valves, actuators, pipework, and mechanical equipment at water and wastewater treatment sites
  • Learn how to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and site plans
  • Support mechanical fitting, alignment, assembly, and testing activities
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment safely and correctly
  • Assist with inspection, maintenance, and repair of mechanical assets
  • Participate in site preparation, equipment setup, and commissioning activities
  • Follow company health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures at all times
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used
  • Work effectively as part of a site team and communicate professionally with colleagues and clients
  • Attend college/training provider sessions and complete apprenticeship coursework and assessments
