Job summary

Fort Recruitment is seeking a Trainee Field Engineer for the Water Industry to install & configure monitoring equipment and repair valves on the clean water network. A full-time permanent role with a company vehicle and full training is provided.

You will start at £27,000 per year with increments to £31,000 after two years, plus ongoing progression based on performance. Excellent prospects and a pension scheme are included in a 40-hour week.

Qualifications

• Full manual driving licence is essential.
• No prior sector experience required as training is provided.
• Electrical or mechanical experience is an advantage.
• Previous field engineering experience is useful.
• Relevant qualifications such as BTEC Engineering are advantageous.
• Strong work ethic and fast learner during training.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with customers.

Responsibilities

• Drive between sites and work outdoors in all weather.
• Lift, carry and move equipment and chamber covers.
• Enter and work within confined spaces.
• Install and maintain a variety of mechanical and electrical instrumentation.

Trainee Field Engineer (Water Industry) – Benefits

• A starting salary of £27,000pa
• Salaries are then increased by £1,000pa every 6 months during training quickly rising to £31,000pa after 2 years
• Salaries will then continue to rise based on progression and performance

Trainee Field Engineer (Water Industry) - Daily activities

• Driving from site to site and working outside in all weather conditions
• Lifting, carrying and moving equipment and chamber covers
• Entry into and working within confined spaces
• Installing and maintaining a variety of mechanical and electrical instrumentation

Trainee Field Engineer (Water Industry) - The Candidate

• Full driving licence for manual gears is essential
• No prior sector experience is necessary as all training will be provided for the role
• Previous electrical or mechanical experience of any nature an advantage
• Previous as a field engineer is useful
• Relevant academic qualifications an advantage e.g. BTEC Engineering or BTEC Electrical
• You must have a strong work ethic and a desire to learn quickly during training
• You will be interacting with customers/clients on a daily basis so excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential
