Job summary

East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust offers a two-year Trainee Science and Manufacturing Technician apprenticeship within the Pharmacy Manufacturing Unit, while undertaking a Level 3 SMT qualification. You will gain hands-on experience in preparing and supplying chemotherapy and other medicines, under supervision, to support patient care across the Trust.

Applicants should have GCSEs including Maths, English and Science; Pharmacy experience is helpful but not essential.

Qualifications

• 5 GCSEs / equivalent at grade A*-C or 9-5 (must include Mathematics, English Language and Science)
• Ability to complete the Science and Manufacturing Technician qualification in the 2 year timeframe
• NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent
• A Levels or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Assist with the provision of pharmaceutical services to the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust
• To undertake the Science and Manufacturing Technician Level 3 qualification to become a qualified registered SMT
• Work with pharmacists and technicians to ensure patients receive safe, effective drug treatment
