Job summary

Stratford-on-Avon District Council is advertising an Apprentice Maintenance Officer role. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience while earning a salary and working toward a nationally recognised qualification.

The apprenticeship includes dedicated training time (at least 20% of working hours) to achieve the Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship, with progression into building maintenance tasks across district facilities.

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic about undertaking apprenticeship training and developing new skills in building maintenance and repairs.
• Able to communicate effectively in spoken and written English, with basic IT skills.
• Practical, hands-on tasks and problem solving in a local government setting.
• Physically fit, able to work in confined spaces and use hand tools and machinery.
• Holds a full, clean driving licence and is willing to attend emergency callouts outside normal hours.

Responsibilities

• Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with Council policies and best practices.
• Maintenance & Repairs: Assist with general repairs, maintenance tasks, and minor works across Council facilities.
• Operational Support: Help source materials, supervise minor contractors, and respond to urgent maintenance needs efficiently.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of work completed, including time, materials, and inspection data.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with staff across departments to minimise disruption and support the effective delivery of services.
