A Property Maintenance Apprenticeship at the University provides an excellent opportunity to develop the essential skills needed to enhance the condition and quality of our portfolio of properties. This program ensures that buildings are maintained in a safe working condition while delivering a high level of satisfaction to customers. About the Role:You will be excited to start a new career in property maintenance, and have a mature outlook, transferrable skills and a willingness to learn and develop new skills. You would be part of a team of Facilities Management professionals who are responsible for excellent service to our managed buildings. Key Responsibilities:You will be fully trained to carry out the following during your apprenticeship:• Assist in the running, maintenance, and repair of building systems, to include cryo-storage facilities, laboratory equipment, compressed air and general building services.• Support routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure facility safety, reliability, and compliance with regulations.• Respond, as part of a team, to maintenance requests and perform basic repairs as needed in both office and laboratory environments.• Operate tools and equipment safely and effectively, including in a workshop environment. About the apprenticeshipAs an Apprentice Property Maintenance Operative, you will undertake an apprenticeship with Abingdon and Witney College, at Bicester Construction Skill Centre where you will complete Level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths (if required) and Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship. In total, it will take 18-24 months to complete all elements of the apprenticeship, with support from the Department, University, and College throughout. The apprenticeship training is eleven weeks of block release training at Bicester Construction Skill Centre. Requirements:• An understanding of excellent Customer Service • Able to demonstrate an aptitude for the skills taught in the Apprenticeship, (for example through work experience, qualifications, or references)• Experience of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel• Ability to work in various conditions, including outdoor environments and confined spaces.
