Job description

The Pond Café in Bonchurch is about to re-open under new management, and they are looking for an apprentice production chef.

The café is situated in a picturesque area, opposite the pond in Bonchurch Old Village, and just minutes from the main bus route.

The café is looking to serve meals and snacks, all home made but using the finest of local ingredients in all dishes where possible.

This would suit someone either leaving school or college this year - to start as soon as possible.

As an apprentice Production Chef, you will take on a full-time role in the kitchen under the supervision of the chef, whilst also undertaking the Level 2 Production Chef apprenticeship with HTP Apprenticeship College.

Key Responsibilities:

·Ensuring ingredients are in stock, in date and rotating stock

·Receiving ordered items and storing items

·Preparing ingredients for menu items

·Cooking food and preparing to a high standard ready for table delivery – and to meet regulatory and legislative requirements around food hygiene and dietary requirements

·To assist the Chef generally

·To keep the kitchen clean and tidy at all times, and to record cleaning

·The flexibility to work weekends, and to cover other staff as required

·A flexible approach to getting the task done

Hours:

The hours will be a minimum of 30, which may increase based on business needs.

The role is based on 5 days, including some weekends.
